My name is Joe Barbara and I am bicycling from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia on the Trans America Route from May to July 2013. On these 4241.5 self-supported miles, I am hoping to raise a penny per mile (or more) to support St. Vincent de Paul.

You can DONATE NOW or see the link at the top right to make a pledge. I will not be using any donations to support my ride; 100% will go directly to charity. Learn more about what the Society of St. Vincent de Paul does in communities across America.

I will be posting updates and pictures along the ride. If you are interested in joining me for the ride, or even just a few miles, you can contact me at pedalforapurpose@gmail.com. I will be staying mostly at campgrounds with an occasional hotel, riding 60 to 80 miles per day, stopping to enjoy the scenery, picture taking and smelling the roses. I would also like to find a church mass on Sundays if possible.
